Transcranial electrical stimulation of the prefrontal cortex to boost the hypnosis experience: who benefits most?

چکیده
Many attempts have been made to enhance hypnotizability. The most recent studies adopted the non-invasive brain stimulation deactivate dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) during hypnosis, indicating this as a promising approach. However, it is still no clear whether individual factors can predict effects of on In present study we phenomenological consciousness inventory (PCI) retrospectively assess mental processes hypnosis and hypnotizability, here defined “hypnoidal state.” aim was investigate possible role hypnotic susceptibility efficacy validated approach enhancement through cathodal transcranial electrical (tDCS) left DLPFC. Results indicated that lower hypnoidal state at baseline predicted greater after active tDCS. These findings suggest subjects with responsiveness best candidates for tDCS interventions enhancement, least montage targeting Neurocognitive underpinnings clinical implications results are discussed.

Normal Electrical Activity of the Brain in Obsessive-Compulsive Patients After Anodal Stimulation of the Left Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex
Introduction: Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) has been used as a non-invasive method to increase the plasticity of brain. Growing evidence has shown several brain disorders such as depression, anxiety disorders, and chronic pain syndrome are improved following tDCS. In patients with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), increased brain rhythm activity particularly in the frontal l...
متن کاملElectrical stimulation of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex improves memory monitoring.
The ability to accurately monitor one's own memory is an important feature of normal memory function. Converging evidence from neuroimaging and lesion studies have implicated the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) in memory monitoring. Here we used high definition transcranial direct stimulation (HD-tDCS), a non-invasive form of brain stimulation, to test whether the DLPFC has a causal role...
متن کاملTranscranial Electrical Stimulation over Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex Modulates Processing of Social Cognitive and Affective Information
Recent neurofunctional studies suggested that lateral prefrontal cortex is a domain-general cognitive control area modulating computation of social information. Neuropsychological evidence reported dissociations between cognitive and affective components of social cognition. Here, we tested whether performance on social cognitive and affective tasks can be modulated by transcranial direct curre...
متن کاملPrediction of the response to repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation by spectral powers of prefrontal regions of brain.
Introduction: Quantitative assessments of the effects induced by repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) are crucial to develop more efficient and personalized treatments. Objectives: To determine the spectral powers of different subbands of EEG correlated with treatment response to rTMS. Materials and Methods: the spectral powers of different...
متن کاملModulation of Drug Craving in Crystalline-Heroin Users by Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation of Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex
Background: Drug craving, the main cause of relapse and a major motivator for drug use, is a challenging obstacle in substance use treatment. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), a non-invasive neuromodulatory technique, has shown promising outcomes in treating different neuropsychiatric disorders such as drug addiction, more specifically on drug craving. The aim in the current study...
